Teacher with DSL Responsibilities – Beacon Independent School

Salary: £32,916 – £45,352 (depending on experience)

SEN Allowance: £2,787

Hours:8:00am – 4:00pm, Term Time Only
Start Date: Flexible


  

Beacon Independent School is seeking a committed and experienced Teacher with Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) responsibilities to join our dedicated team. This is a key role for a skilled practitioner with a passion for supporting young people both in their learning and their personal development.

The successful candidate will be an inspirational classroom teacher with a strong understanding of safeguarding practice, able to provide guidance and leadership in keeping all students safe and supported.


  

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage safeguarding across the school as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring policies and procedures are effectively implemented.
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies and the senior leadership team to      promote the welfare of all students.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons adapted to meet individual student needs.
  • Support students’ emotional and social development in line with the school’s nurturing ethos.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing clear feedback and support.
  • Prepare and maintain learning resources and manage behaviour positively.
  • Transport students as required, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience or qualification as a DSL (or willingness to train).
  • Experience working with children with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs is an advantage.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • A full, clean driving licence is desirable due to transport responsibilities.
